2016 NASCAR Preview

Welcome To Another Season Of Fantasy NASCAR!

We are only about two weeks away from the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup season’s first points race. Drivers will try to qualify for the Daytona 500 on February 14th with the top two fastest drivers sitting on the front row.

Once again the final spots will be determined in the Can-Am Duel races on February 18th with a few spots going out on times and to a past champion if one of them needs to make the race.

Daytona 500 – February 21, 2016

The Daytona 500 is scheduled to be run on February 21st with 43 drivers taking the checkered flag as we wait to see not only who will win the “Great American Race”, but who will become this year’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion.

  • Can Kyle Busch repeat?
  • Will Kevin Harvick run as well as he has the past two seasons?
  • Will Jimmie Johnson be a Championship contender throughout the season?
  • Which NASCAR rookies will run well and will any of them be consistent?

I think this is going to be another interesting season, and once again we will be running our own Yahoo Fantasy Racing League. If you would like to join there is still time, but you better hurry because the league is limited to the first 50 participants and those spots will be going fast. Click on the link and sign up now at Yahoo Fantasy Racing League.

The Group ID is 1257 and the password is busch (all small letters).

I will be back here after the Can-Am Duels (taking place at 7 PM and 9 PM (EST) on Thursday, February 18, 2016) to give you my advice on Yahoo starting lineups for the Daytona 500. So, check back on February 19th if you would like to use some of my advice or even if you just want to see how your team stacks up against mine before the first race of the season.

I will also try to answer any questions that anyone has, so just leave a comment and I will do my best to reply as soon as possible.

Once again, good luck and may the best fantasy player win this league!

I’m glad it is helping you a bit, but you seem to be doing better than me most of the time : )

Thanks for reading!

I am in a league where you can only use each driver twice for the whole year. It does not reset at the chase. Where might I be able to find advice on this site to help with with my weekly picks. Thanks for any help. Mark.

Hi Mark,
I used to be in the exact same league and we called it the Big 18. Same deal as yours pick those 18 drivers only twice during the year. I can try to help you out with your picks if you would like. Can you pick any drivers twice or is there a list you have to pick from?

I’m in the same type of pool. I cany pick any driver that is racing for cup points, but only twice in the year. Any help would be awesome.

I will try to remember to add this to my articles on a weekly basis with my reasoning. If I forget, don’t be afraid to remind me and I will give you my advice. After the first few weeks I should remember.

One last question, when do you need your picks in for this week?

Just so everyone knows, I will be posting my picks for this week sometime tomorrow evening after I get home from work.

Thanks, Jeff. My pick for the week is due 7 am on race day. This week I also have to pick who I think will win the most regular season races and who I think the champ will be for bonus points in our final standings.

For this week’s 18 pool I would select Austin Dillon or Casey Mears. Mears always seems to stay out of trouble and just stays in line and drivers like to draft with him. Austin runs well too and has a little better equipment under him. I would caution you from using one of the top tier drivers at this track because of the huge chance of them getting caught up in a wreck and then you can only use them one more time during the season. If one of these drivers ends up in a crash you really aren’t out anything. It is a long season and I have played this game before.
